What Happens When You Try "The Secret?"

What Happens When You Try "The Secret?"

What Happens When You Try "The Secret?"

I found this article written back in 2007 about The Secret that's very interesting.
Emily Yoffe wrote it, and it's about her experiences trying the techniques that are in the book.
I liked it because even though she says she went into it negative attitude, she did try.
But understand, this article is about one person's attempt. It's not the final word.
Anyway, you can read her full article here:

The Top Ten in Manifesting

The Top Ten in Manifesting

Who are the top ten most searched out manifestation " Gurus"?
The results may surprise you.....

Eckhart Tolle
Okay, with the Oprah Boost, that one really didn't surprise me much.
First book, The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, 1999

Deepak Chopra
Kinda surprising since in today's short attention span world, he really doesn't seem to do a lot of PR.
First book, Creating Health, 1987.

Sylvia Browne
Really? Do some research on the person before believing everything she says.
First book: Adventures of a Psychic, 1990.

Wayne Dyer
Okay, I really like Wayne Dyer.
First book: Counseling Techniques That Work, 1975.

Edgar Cayce
I really bounce back and forth on him. I have seen some of his cures work, but I know a lot of his predictions failed.

James Allen
Amazed at this one actually. But "As a Man Thinketh", (1902) is still one of the benchmarks in manifestation writing.

Matthew Fox
First book: On Becoming a Musical, Mystical Bear: Spirituality American Style (1972)? I guess that's why it was republished as Prayer: A Radical Response to Life in 2001.

Carlos Castaneda
If he were a boxer, he'd have been Carlos "Controversy" Castaneda. So many things revolving around his later life and death.
First book: The Teachings of Don Juan: A Yaqui Way of Knowledge, 1968.

Louise Hay
Motivational author, and the founder of Hay House.
First book: Wrote little pamphlet called “Heal Your Body” which became a book, "You Can Heal Your Life"in 1984. Right now there are about 35 million copies in print around the world in over 30 languages.

Napoleon Hill
One of the pioneers of personal success literature.
Think and Grow Rich (1937) has sold over 30 million copies, and was re-released in 2004 as Think and Grow Rich!: The Original Version, Restored and Revised.

Doubt...the greatest sin of all?

Neville Goddard said Doubt was the greatest sin of all.
And it makes sense doesn't it?
Here we are worshiping a Higher Power, but the second TSHTF we panic!
How many different variations of Matthew Chapter 7, verse 7 do we need to hear?
7. Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8. For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9. Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10. Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11. If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

I say "variations of", because this thread runs all through manifesting techniques.

The second most important thing......
Matthew 21:22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive

Yes it doesn't say SOME things.
It says ALL things.

Believe, do not doubt. Even though your senses tell you "no".
Faith. In the Old Testament, the Hebrew word means essentially steadfastness.

Neville taught to get caught up in the mood. Imagine your desire right here, right now fulfilled.
Don't look at it as through a camera, be IN it as though an actor. Don't see yourself being handed money, being in good health.
FEEL yourself being handed money. FEEL yourself being healthy.
Don't worry about how it will happen.
Just know that inside you, it already has.

The Secret, Neville and Anthony Robbins

A lot of people rag Anthony Robbins.
Yes he sells books, DVDs, CDs, he's appeared in movies and they even ripped him on "Family Guy".
But I am convinced the guy knows his stuff.
His technique is a little different from most of " The Secret" clones.
And he was around WAY before The Secret.
Tony preaches positive thought, but also positive action.
You can sit in a room thinking " I'm a millionaire" all you want, but until you take positive action, the universe wont have a way to get that million to you.
David Schirmer (who was in The Secret) is a wealth coach, entrepreneur, private share investor and trader. He has acknowledged Robbins' effects on him.
http://davidschirmer.blogspot.com/2007/09/my-first-day-with-tony-robbins.html

Yeah I know Schirmer has run into trouble. One thing you have to realize, is that even if a person embraces manifestation and understands it, they are HUMAN and make mistakes. Your job as a human is to see what they did right and wrong. Learn from their mistakes. You can also, according to Neville, try to work in the spiritual realm to help them see their mistakes and work things out.

Anyway, back to Tony....
I think he was really the first positive thinking author I read. Oh I'd read Carlos Castaneda and his stuff really freaked me out, but Robbins taught HOW to apply his teachings to life.
Tony is a big man. Some people don't realize he's 6 feet 7 inches tall, that's one inch shorter than the WWE's Kane. He really has an imposing presence, he gets your attention.
The one thing I read in Tony's books that has really stuck with me is " A real decision is measured by the fact that you've taken a new action. If there's no action, you haven't truly decided."
This goes back to what I posted earlier about " Right Now". Do it now, not tomorrow or next week or next month.
Positive decision, positive action.

Lots of his sayings sound like they came from Neville or Trowel or Wattles.
"Beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Human beings have the awesome ability to take any experience of their lives and create a meaning that dis-empowers them or one that can literally save their lives."
"Take control of your consistent emotions and begin to consciously and deliberately reshape your daily experience of life."
"The only limit to your impact is your imagination and commitment. "
"We can change our lives. We can do, have, and be exactly what we wish. "

Tony's main points, as opposed to some others, seems to be focus, commitment and action.
As always though, you can read what he says with an objective eye. Don't accept his every word as gospel.
Like I have said before, I see all this like Bruce Lee's Jeet Kune Do.
Try something, if it works, keep it.
If it doesn't, throw it away and replace it with something else.
The thing is keep trying!
